The New Member Experience

Welcome Kit
New members receive a welcome kit which includes a checklist of important dates and events, a Membership Directory, and an Activities & Groups Overview to help them get involved in the life of our church.

New Member Recognition Service & Book Signing
Approximately quarterly, we have a new member recognition service to more formally introduce our new members to the congregation. As new members are called on stage, they are asked to sign the UUCC Membership Book, which has recorded signatures of members dating back to the early days of this congregation's existence.

New Member Mentor Program
Launched in December of 2007, this program pairs our new members who wish to participate with existing members to help them feel welcome and a part of our church community. We provide mentors with suggestions for interaction with their new members during their first six months. We currently have approximately 50 new members with mentors. Initial feedback on this program has been positive from both new members and mentors.

New Member Bulletin Board
Once a month, new members have the opportunity to get their pictures taken and fill out an information card for the new member bulletin board in Freeman Hall. This provides a way for everyone to recognize our newest members, match names with faces, and learn a little bit about them.

New Member Potluck
New members are invited to a New Member Potluck that is offered approximately three times a year on a Sunday evening in the Chapel. Hosted by Jay Leach, this informal, family-oriented event allows new members get to know each other and their minister better.
