Every winter for the past sixteen years, we at the UUCC have participated in Room In The Inn, an outreach program for our homeless neighbors designed and overseen by the Urban Ministry Center.  We will be starting our seventeenth year with the program on Sunday, December 3, and our work will continue on each Sunday and Monday through March 26, 2018.  UUCC members provide transportation to the Church, a robust dinner, shower facilities, a safe night’s sleep, breakfast in the morning, a bagged lunch, and transportation back into Charlotte.  Offering these services gives each of us an opportunity to bring compassion and respect to the people we welcome into Freeman Hall.

As you can see, the program requires dedicated effort from a lot of people, and we are already in the midst of recruiting volunteers for the coming season.  For those of you who have volunteered in the past, we fervently hope that you will renew your commitment and join us again.  For those of you who have not, this is a fine opportunity to do very good things connected to the central social-justice mission of our congregation, work on affordable housing and homelessness.

Be a part of this important work and you will meet some wonderful people and learn from the experience. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up at the RITI display on the Social Justice table in Freeman Hall on alternate Sundays, starting on November 5, or visit the website:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094aaca82fa3fe3-uucc1
