Over 4,000 UUs will gather in Portland, OR June 24-28, 2015 to ponder, worship, laugh and sing during the annual General Assembly. The 2015 theme is "Building a New Way." Most of the events will be available as streaming videos and articles on the UUA/GA website. Check them out. If interested in attending, contact UUCC member, Cindy Fox. Registration opens in March.
Chalice Lighters are members of congregations in our (Southeast) District who have pledged financial assistance to other congregations which have applied for assistance in growing and strengthening Unitarian Universalism in their areas. This is a very cost effective and localized way for our members to help grown UUism in the southeast. The Spring 2014 call is
to help the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Swannanoa Valley, Black Mountain, NC. They want to move the employment of their minister closer to full-time. Contact UUCC member, Nancy Greene, for details.
The Mountain is a UU retreat and education center in Highlands, NC. Located in the breathtaking beauty of the Appalachians, with spectacular views, ancient white oak forests, and simple, modern housing and meeting facilities, it offers unique programs and camps for youth, seniors and every age in between. mountaincenters.org

Our Partner Church:
Partner Church in Szabed, Romania
In 1991, our congregation was paired with a Unitarian church in Szabed, Romania by the UU Partner Church Council. Szabed, a village of about 600 people, is located in the Transylvanian region of northern Romanian. Since 2000, UUCC has held nine coffeehouses and several youth-led brunches to benefit our partners, raising more than $20,000 to help finance much needed building repairs and other congregational needs. Over the years, three groups from UUCC have visited Szabed - and in 2011, their minister and his wife visited Charlotte. Our goal is to organize a trip for summer 2014. If interested in finding out more about our partners in Transylvania or about the proposed trip, contact Kathleen Carpenter.
