    Reflections on General Assembly 2011

Read articles here which were written by those who attended, led and participated in the 2011 General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations. All reports indicate that this gathering in Charlotte was a great success. More reflections and reporting are available on the UUA website as well.

Reaching into the larger UU world

The goals of the UUCC Denominational Connections Team are to:

    • Help members experience greater awareness of our growing role in UU connections — locally, nationally, and globally
    • Celebrate current contributions and benefits to the Larger Circle of UUism
    • Advocate continued giving TJD, UUA Fair Share
    • Increase Chalice Lighter participation
    • Increase UUCC representation at and learning from UU events, including local Sister Churches, District and General Assembly events.

Great UU Connections Reinforce Stronger UUCC Participation & Community

    General Assembly
Over 4,000 UUs gathered in Charlotte to ponder, worship, laugh and sing during the 50th annual General Assembly, June 22–26, 2011. Praised as an excellent meeting place, Charlotte saw much activity and GA business. Most of the events are available as streaming videos and articles on the UUA/GA website. Check them out.

    Our Partner Church:
    Partner Church in Szabed, Romania

In 1991, our congregation was paired with a Unitarian church in Szabed, Romania by the UU Partner Church Council. Szabed, a village of about 600 people, is located in the Transylvanian region of northern Romanian. Since 2000, UUCC has held nine coffeehouse fundraisers to benefit our partners, raising more than $16,000 to help finance much needed building repairs and other congregational needs. Over the years, three groups from UUCC have visited Szabed - and in 2011, their minister and his wife visited Charlotte.
