The UUCC has four well-established social justice programs with a proven record of success in the Charlotte community.
Room In The Inn is an interfaith ministry providing winter shelter for the homeless sponsored by the Urban Ministry Center (UMC). Since 1996, the UMC has been working with congregations of many faiths and colleges to open their facilities one night a week to provide shelter and food for the homeless during the winter months. Our church opens our Fellowship Hall each Sunday night from December 1 through March 31 to about six of our homeless neighbors, providing them with dinner, breakfast and a lunch to take with them in the morning.
There are many volunteer opportunities such as setting up cots, preparing dinner or breakfast, staying overnight, providing a shuttle, or cleaning up early Monday morning. Please consider helping with one of the many jobs available. Contact Marsha Kelly at riti_marshakelly@yahoo.com.

The UUCC collects and distributes canned and boxed food to 25-30 low-income, working families each month. Bring your non-perishable items to the food barrel located in the Freeman Fellowship Hall. Especially appreciated are canned soups, canned fruit, peanut butter, tuna and other canned meats. Use this link to see the complete list of the Food Bank’s needs.
