Adult Religious Education & Spiritual Development Team
Purpose/Mission
The purpose of the Adult Religious Education/Spiritual Development (ARESD) program at UUCC is to nurture and stimulate the religious and personal growth of the adult members by offering a varied and cohesive program within the context of the larger Unitarian Universalist tradition and religious community. They are committed to providing a range of programming that addresses Intersectional Justice themes, Unitarian Universalist identity, and Spirituality in our daily lives.
As the visioning body for the ARESD Program, the Team’s responsibilities include policy approval, curriculum/programming input, program evaluation, support for teachers and facilitators, and overall vision for the program. This team serves as support to the Director of Lifespan Religious Education (DLRE) as needed, in order to maintain robust, relevant and collaborative programming.

- Classes
- Workshops
- Credo presentations
- Small group ministry
Specific role responsibilities:
- Attend monthly meetings, where team members provide input and consultation in the review and approval of proposed events to ensure that the Mission/Ends of the UUCC and the goals of the program are addressed.
- In support of the DLRE, help develop and possibly facilitate ARESD courses (as personal interest, time and talent/skills permit).
- Assist with the implementation of approved projects as time/talent permit.
- Assist with recruiting and supporting of volunteer presenters.
- Attend ARESD events as available and garner feedback from members concerning current/future ARESD offerings.
- Assist with promotion of the ARESD program with attendance at the ARESD table in Freeman Hall.
Time Commitment:
ARESD members are asked to service for a three-year term; attend 1 monthly meeting; email updates/feedback between meetings; facilitating classes if interested/skilled in this area; volunteering at the Adult Programming table as able.
